Biography

Teresa Robison was born and raised in Oklahoma along with a sister and brother, who were all close in age.  They went to school in the Chickasha Schools system where their parents also taught.  However, Teresa's education was not limited to public school.  She grew up playing and working on her parent's farm and staying with her grandmother, a retired school teacher who also lived on the family farm.  Those dear memories and experiences have had a huge influence on her art.

While in Junior High School, Teresa received her first "real" instruction in oil painting with acclaimed Oklahoma artist, Richard Goetz.  He was a wonderful teacher and a big influence on her art.  After graduating high school at Chickasha Schools, she went on to Oklahoma State University, where she continued her art education and earned a Bachelors Degree in Social Science. Even though she
did not make a career of painting until her children were almost grown, she always held onto her dream of becoming an artist.

After trying differenent styles of painting, Teresa most enjoys representational painting, which is the style in which she was first trained.  She prefers to paint from life, but also uses photographs she has taken or sketches as references when working on larger studio paintings.  She believes there are new discoveries and problems to solve in every painting, which makes art interesting and fascinating.

Teresa is a member of Memphis/Germantown Art League, Oil Painters of America, and National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society.  She has studied with Fred Rawlinson, Joanna Arnet, and John Pototschnick.  You can see her artwork at Fountain Art Gallery in Memphis and Tadporter's in Collierville.
